Three things stand out once you decode the abbreviations. First, the CEO’s post is BS-20 — a senior grade, equivalent to a full Secretary-level track officer — which signals how seriously the government ranks this authority. Second, almost every post can be filled through “competitive mode,” meaning open-market hiring, not just transfers of existing government officers; that is exactly the route through which the recent Director recruitments were made. Third, the Academics wing carries the heaviest load with four directorates — including Assessment & Examination, the office that conducts the Grade 5 and 8 exams you check results for each April.
Grades & Terms — Plain-Language Glossary
BS (Basic Scale)The standard government pay grade. BS-20 is very senior (Secretary-track), BS-19 is senior management, BS-18 is mid-senior.
MPS (Management Position Scale)A special pay package used for market-based hiring — MPS-I roughly parallels BS-20, MPS-II parallels BS-19, MPS-III parallels BS-18/19. It lets the authority pay competitive salaries to outside professionals.
S&GADServices & General Administration Department — the Punjab department that posts senior civil servants. “S&GAD mode” means the officer comes from the civil service.
GOPb EmployeesGovernment of the Punjab employees — the post can be filled by transferring an existing provincial government officer.
Competitive ModeOpen advertisement and merit-based selection from the market — anyone eligible can apply, not just serving officers.
Why the Structure Matters
Organograms usually live and die as wall charts, but this one explains real things you see on this website. When a date sheet is issued, it comes from the Assessment & Examination directorate under MD Academics. When exam centres are arranged in your district, that is MD Operations’ machinery at work. And when results are audited for credibility, that is the Monitoring & Evaluation wing doing its job.
