If you have a child in Grade 5 or Grade 8 anywhere in Punjab, PECTAA is a name you'll be hearing a lot this year. It stands for the Punjab Education Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority — the government body that now runs the annual board exams for both classes, along with two other big jobs: designing the school curriculum and training teachers across the province.
Parents who remember the old PEC exams from before 2020 will find the system familiar. Children appear in four papers — English, Mathematics, Urdu and General Science — at exam centres in their own districts, and a few weeks later the result arrives as a proper board result, not just a school report card. That's exactly how it worked in 2026, when the exams returned after a five-year gap: papers in the second week of March, result announced on 9 April, and thousands of families checking marks online the same afternoon.
This website exists for one simple reason: official announcements usually sit buried in PDF notifications that nobody enjoys reading. We track every PECTAA update for the 2027 session — date sheets, roll number slips, model papers, passing criteria and board-wise results — and explain each one in plain language, the day it drops.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO), PECTAA
"It is an honour to serve at PECTAA. Our aim is to strengthen learning outcomes for every child and make the people of Punjab trust their educational system."
Since taking charge, the CEO has kept returning to three themes: ending rote learning so children actually understand what they study, backing teachers with proper training instead of blame, and keeping the system transparent enough that parents trust the marks their children bring home.
One step in that direction is unusual for a government body — PECTAA has publicly invited parents and citizens to send in suggestions on the Punjab curriculum. Whether that feedback ends up shaping the final syllabus remains to be seen, but the door being open at all is new for an assessment authority in this province.
One Authority for Curriculum, Training & Assessment
Before PECTAA, three different offices handled curriculum, teacher training and examinations — and they didn't always talk to each other. A syllabus would change but the exam pattern wouldn't; teachers would be trained on one method while students were tested on another. PECTAA was created to fix exactly that: one authority, one direction.
The authority works under Punjab's School Education Department and is run by a Chief Executive Officer, with separate wings for academics, operations and monitoring. For families though, the part that matters is simple — this is the body that sets your child's Grade 5 and 8 papers, marks them, and announces the result. It is the modern successor of PEC (Punjab Examination Commission), which ran these exams until 2020.
Three Wings, One Authority
Operations Wing
Exam centres, staffing, logistics and district coordination — the machinery that makes papers happen on time across all 36 districts of Punjab.
Academics Wing
Curriculum & compliance, teacher training & certification, assessment & exams, and outreach & research — the wing behind what students are actually tested on.
Monitoring & Evaluation
Guards quality and accountability — continuous monitoring, transparency and performance reporting, building trust in every result.
8th Class Result 2027 — All Punjab Boards
Grade 8 is the bigger of the two exams PECTAA conducts — it's the last board result before matric, and schools take it seriously. The 2027 exam will again cover four subjects: English, Mathematics, Urdu and General Science. Going by the 2026 schedule (papers 9–12 March, result 9 April), expect the 2027 papers in early March and the result in the first half of April — though nothing is final until PECTAA issues the official date sheet, and we update this section the same day that happens.
Result day itself is easy if you know your options: check by roll number for instant marks, search by name if the slip has gone missing, or download your board's full gazette. Pick your board below — each page carries the checking method, gazette and district details for that board:
5th Class Result 2027 — All Punjab Boards
The Grade 5 exam runs in the same session as Grade 8 — same four subjects, same exam window, and the results land on the same day. For most children it's their first ever board exam, so the board pages below also cover the small things parents actually ask: what the roll number slip looks like, what happens if a paper is missed, and how the supplementary works. Choose your board:
How to Check Your Result — 3 Simple Ways
By Roll Number
Grab the roll number slip, type the number into the result portal, and the full marks sheet — all four subjects plus total — appears in seconds. On result day the portal crawls for the first hour or two, so if it hangs, wait ten minutes instead of refreshing again and again.
By Name
Slip lost? It happens in half the homes in Punjab. Search with the student's full name and father's name instead. Common names throw up several records, so match the school and district before celebrating the wrong child's marks.
School Gazette
Every school receives the complete gazette of its students. If the website is down or the marks look doubtful, the school office can confirm the official result the same day — and it's also where you apply for rechecking if needed.
Strategic Partnership with Aitchison College for Teacher Education
In one of its first major collaborations, PECTAA has teamed up with Aitchison College Lahore. The plan — led on PECTAA's side by MD Academics Dr. Zubda Zia-ul-Rehman — covers master trainer development, curriculum and material design, quality assurance, teacher licensing and joint research, with both institutions working toward a formal MoU after an initial meeting at Aitchison's Teaching and Learning Center.
Why should a parent care? Because the teachers trained under this program are the same ones preparing students for the Grade 5 and 8 assessments. Better teaching upstream shows up in results downstream.
PECTAA Results 2027 — FAQs
When will the 8th class result 2027 be announced?
PECTAA hasn't issued the 2027 schedule yet. The 2026 session ran with papers from 9–12 March and the result on 9 April, so early April 2027 is the realistic window. Be careful with websites claiming an exact date right now — the official notification simply hasn't come. We update this page the day it does.
Which subjects are included in the PECTAA exam?
Four papers: English, Mathematics, Urdu and General Science — the same subjects for Grade 5 and Grade 8, with each paper set at that grade level.
What are the passing marks?
In 2026 the passing criteria was 33% per subject; students falling short appeared in a supplementary exam a few weeks later. The criteria can change from year to year, so confirm from the official notification before assuming anything.
Is this the official PECTAA website?
No — and we say this openly. PECTAA.com.pk is an independent information portal built to help students and parents. The official website is pectaa.edu.pk. Always verify your result from the official portal or your school before making any decision based on it.
Can I check the result without a roll number?
Yes. Use the search-by-name option with the student's and father's name, or ask the school office — every school receives the complete gazette of its students, so they can confirm the result even if you have nothing in hand.
Do private school students also take the PECTAA exam?
Participation policies have changed over the years — under the old PEC system, both government and registered private school students appeared. For 2027, ask your school whether it has registered its students with PECTAA; we will publish the official policy here as soon as it is notified.
What happens if a student fails a paper?
A supplementary exam is held a few weeks after the result for students who fall below the passing criteria. Failing one paper in Grade 5 or 8 is recoverable — talk to the school about the supplementary date and preparation rather than panicking.
How do I find an old PEC result from 2010–2019?
Old PEC gazettes are not reliably available online anymore. Your best options are the school record (schools keep result registers for years) or the PECTAA/PEC district office. If you only need proof of passing, the school can usually issue a certificate from its own record.
